Forward progress of 45 acre fire in Benicia has been stopped, CAL FIRE says

SOLANO COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) — Forward progress of a 45 acre fire in Solano County that started Saturday morning has been stopped, CAL FIRE says.

The fire burned off Lopes Road near Interstate 680 in Benicia.

ABC7 News reporter Cornell Barnard is at the scene. He says CAL FIRE dropping fire retardant and water helped stop the progress of the grass fire.

Parts of the Bay Area is under a Red Flag Warning this weekend, including Solano County. It’s the first warning of the season.

Meteorologist Drew Tuma says northerly winds gusted 10-20mph in the area as of 11a.m. Tuma also says the last time the Bay Area had a Red Flag Warning in the month of May was in 2013.

The fire began around 10:30a.m.

There were no injuries or evacuations.
