Restaurant customer opens fire on Harris County sheriff’s deputy during dispute over alcoholic beverage

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A confrontation over an alcoholic beverage at a northwest Houston restaurant led to gunfire between a patron and an off-duty sheriff’s deputy who was working security, authorities said.

It happened on Gessner and Highway 249 Friday night.

A customer tried to walk out of the restaurant with the beverage when the deputy confronted them, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The customer became angry, pulled a gun and opened fire, investigators said.

The deputy returned fire during the ordeal, but no one was hit.

Several cars were damaged by the gunfire.

The shooter was able to get away in a white pickup truck.
